Jumma K Din Surah Ikhlas Parhne K Kamalat | Surah Ikhlas Parhne K Fayde | Surah Ikhlas Ka Wazifa

Description:

The last juz of the Quran consists of one of the exemplary Surahs which, although is amongst the shortest ones, has the most profound implications. Surah Ikhlas is a Meccan Surah and is one of the earliest revelations of the Quran. It was revealed on the occasion where the pagans and polytheists questioned the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to explain the genealogy of his Lord. The following Hadith narrates this:

It was narrated on the authority of Ubayy ibn Ka’b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the polytheists said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , “Tell us the lineage of your Lord.” In response, Allah the Almighty revealed (what means): {Say, “He Is Allah, [Who Is] One, Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither Begets nor Is Born. Nor is there to Him any equivalent} (Quran 112:1-4) [Ahmad and At-Tirmizi]

The word Ikhlas has been derived from its root word kh-l-s which means, refined or purified. This chapter is the essence of Islam and central to the message that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was sent to spread. This Surah has several nicknames as associated by the Sahabas. Below are some of the following names:

Surah at Tawheed, meaning ‘to unify’, thus signifying how this chapter of the Quran is dedicated to the discourse of unification of beliefs.
Surah al Muqashkish, meaning ‘one that removes the disease’, thus elaborating the word Ikhlas and signifying as that word of Allah which removes impurities and shortcomings in one’s faith (Aqeedah) in the form of shirk and evil desires. This name has also been given to Surah Kafirun as that Surah is also reinforcement against shirk.
Surah al Tafreed, meaning ‘fard’ or ‘individual’; signifying how Allah is to be acknowledged as one.
Surah al Tajreed, meaning ‘one that removes all misconceptions’, signifying how this Surah is an answer to all the doubts raised by the non-believers.
Surah al Ma’arifa, meaning ‘to know someone’, ‘to be acquainted with’, thus expressing how this chapter is our pathway to know who Allah is.
Surah at Samad, meaning ‘the self- sufficient’, thus signifying how Allah is self-sufficient and requires no assistance in any matter.
Surah al Asa’as, meaning ‘the essence of something’, explaining how this chapter is core to the mission of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and central to what He professed.
The placement of Surah al Ikhlas in the Quran is also of great significance. Surah al Kafirun mentions how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is asked to say to the unbelievers that they do not worship what the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ worships. This therefore raises the question as to ‘who’ or ‘what’ is it that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prays to?

Ahadith Related to Ikhlas:
Buraydah ibn Al-Husayb (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet ﷺ heard a man supplicating saying, “O Allah, I ask you by my testimony that you are Allah, there is no God but you, the One, the Eternal Refuge who does not give birth and was not born and to whom no one is equal.” The Prophet said, “By him in whose hand is my soul, he has asked Allah by his greatest name for which he answers when called upon and he gives when asked.”
(Sunan al-Tirmidhī 3745, Grade: sahih according to Al- Albani)

Mu’adh ibn Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet ﷺ said, “Whoever recites the chapter ten times completely: He is Allah, the One (112:1), then Allah will build a palace for him in Paradise.”

(Musnad Ahmed 15183. Grade: sahih according to Al- Albani)

Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said, “Say: He is Allah the One (chapter112) is equal to one third of the Quran. Say: O unbelievers (chapter109) is equal to one fourth of the Quran.” The Prophet ﷺ would recite these two in his bowings before the dawn prayer.
(Mu’jam Al-Kabeer 13319. Grade: Hasan according to Al- Mundhiri)

Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: A man said, “O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I love this chapter; Say: He is Allah, the One.”(112) The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Your love for it will admit you into Paradise.”
